Policy Statement

This event is being organised by a local committee of musicians and jazz fans.

Our aim is to promote jazz on the Isle of Wight. Members of the committee will not receive any financial reward. Inspected accounts will be made available on request.

The committee will cover the cost of the main venues and headline acts. This will be funded by sponsorship, ticket sales and other fund-raising activities.

Any subsequent profits will go towards funding future events.

We will encourage other performances during the period. However, we will not act as agents. It will be the responsibility of the performers and venues to negotiate between themselves.

Robert Fowler

Robert FowlerRobert is a freelance Jazz saxophonist and clarinettist with 29 years experience as a professional musician, both as a performer and a teacher.

He's worked with many bands on the British jazz scene as well as working across other areas of the musical spectrum, including rock, pop, film and TV music: playing with Bryan Ferry, Rufus Wainwright, the BBC Big Band, The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Chris Barber, Kenny Ball, Dame Cleo Laine, as well as soul band 'The Staxs' with guest vocalists Kiki Dee, PP Arnold, Jack Bruce, & Paul Carrack & Steve Winwood.

He is a regular with the Alan Barnes Octet, Stefan Redtenbacher's 'Funkestra', and he also fronts his own quartet and quintet.

… Robert has the kind of juicy cavernous sound and wide open phrasing that had become virtually extinct, although it is now making a cautious comeback, thanks to players like him.’ - Dave Gelly, The Observer
